MN - Roy Bauer of Bauer's Pit dies at age 94

FARIBAULT - Roy H. Bauer, age 94, of Cannon City Township, Rice County, died Sunday, April 29, 2007, at his home.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault, with the Rev. Mark Bellows officiating. Interment will be at the Cannon City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Roy Herman Bauer, the son of August and Adeline (Hirdler) Bauer, was born on April 7, 1913, in Cannon City Township and attended school in Wheeling Township. He was married to Dorothy White on Dec. 20, 1941, in Farmington. Roy farmed and lived all of his life in Cannon City. He was a hard worker and enjoyed working with the land. He could build most anything out of various materials, including tin. Roy would often preach to people, but also would help others when needed. He always had a passion for trucking and helped grandchildren get started in the business.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; 10 children, Gerald (and Barb) Bauer of Faribault, Paul (and Cindy) Bauer of Faribault, Nancy (and Oran) Clemmensen of Northfield, Michael (and Marilyn) Bauer of Mapleton, August (and Wanda) Bauer of Varysburg, N.Y., Kathy (and Sheldon) Stubbs of Burnsville, Mark (and Sue) Bauer of Faribault, Brian Bauer of Faribault, Jay (and Beth) Bauer of Owatonna, and Lisa Evans of Wells, Minn.; 36 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Adeline Ponzo of Chicago and Della Baskin; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harvey Bauer; three sisters, Alice Duffney, Violet Winkel and Florence Schlobohm; and stepbrother, Eric Ossowski.

Thank you for posting this. I moved from Minnesota to North Dakota for financial reasons. And I never would've known this. I used to ride out there all weekend. Awesome place to ride and a cool old guy. Sad to see him go. Thank you again, great post.

MN - Roy Bauer of Bauer's Pit dies at age 94
sad to hear Roy has passed on. He was a great guy to talk to. I've had many incredibly hilarious conversations with him and have many great memories of riding in Bauer's Pit.
Thanks for the memories Roy. You were a true friend to everyone on this forum.
