help about fixing an old atv
Hello
I'm 15 years old and I plan on buying a 1986 Suzuki quadsport 230 tomorrow. The bike has not been ridden very much (It still has the stock tires and they are in good condition.) The bike runs and has somewhere around 50 hours on it. I grew up on a Yamaha Raptor 80 and I have been riding my fathers suzuki quadsport 400.
I need some help. I want to get this bike into the best running condition that I can. Can anyone suggest necessary pieces to look at/replace? Maybe ones that could be damamged from sitting in a garage for 20 years? I was told to take a look at the swingarm bearings and I will do that and if needed I will replace those. I get all the help I need from my father who has grown up on four wheelers.
Thank you

since it has not moved very much I would remove the carb and dismantle it as much as possible, drop the carb in come parts cleaner or carb cleaner for a while, remove it and spray every hole out with compressed air, and even poke a small wire through the holes so you know no dirt is stuck. Build it back up with the new parts/gaskets and new fuel lines wouldn't hurt. Before you put it back on the quad I would also drain the fuel tank and clean the shutoff valve out because a clean carb is no cleaner if you add dirty fuel to it.
Replace the spark plug, clean air filter, change the oil and lube the chain as mentioned above.
