Pros and Cons of Nerf Bars?
#1
I just picked up a Polaris Predator 500, coming off a TRX 300. I've been wondering about adding nerf bars to the Polaris. Can't seem to find the pros and cons of doing so (other than the obvious cost being one), but understand it keeps the wheel from eating your boot should you take a dab while up on two wheels, etc.
They look very awkward on the bikes, and confining. Do they hinder at all? Any thoughts on to install them or not? (For safety, not bling).
TIA

some people say they have a hard time shifting with them on. the only other con i can think of is wieght but if you not racing seriously the little wieght is not a big deal at all. pros are it helps to keep the wheel from swalling your foot.

Buy them! They don't hinder you at all, and really up the safety factor. Your foot still has full access to the peg, but if it does slip off, the netting will usually save your bacon. Buying the kind with heel guards built in takes care of the off chance your boot might slip between the fender and nerf. For racing, the nerfs are there to help keep your wheels getting tangled with other competitors. The netting is adjustable, run it just loose enough to not interfere with control operation.
I don't race, but I won't own a sport quad without nerfs either. Get some sort of wider footpeg as well for better grip and comfort.

Even if they saves your a$$ just once in your lifetime, it will be worth it!!!
I had a friend who didn't like nerfs, and he was just out riding out in the dunes slowly with a bunch of kids and his foot came off the peg and he got sucked under. Slit his leg from the foot to the groin!!!

do you ride woods? my buddy had a really tricked out warrior with nerfs on it when he got it and after about a week of riding in the woods those were the first things to come off. they are great unless you ride trails (or lack of trails) that are tight squeezes, crawling rocks and sumps, and other such things like that, just somthing to take into consiteration. I rode a quadzilla for 2 years with nothing but pegs I didnt mind. I took my heel guards off my wolverine to give me more room but to each his own. lots of people swear by nerfs but I dont see making the investment for my type of riding. if your riding fire roads and tracks and things like that they cant hurt
