Opinions -Hand shift lever

It depends on what kind of riding you do. I never did like taking my hand off of the handlebars..................for anything. If your just cruising around you will be find. But if you hard core hill climbing or even in rutted trails, a hand shifter is bad news IMHO.
If you can swing the $$$ I would just sell your quad and buy a belt drive.

I dunno about hand lever options but I'm sure there are any number of rigs you could run to get the job done while her knee heals.....
One option I saw a buddy of mine use after his knee was destroyed was to use a custom shift lever, so that he only had to life his ankle up/down to ****, he didn't have to move his knee at all because the lever had a top and a bottom stem...
One stem was below his foot to down shift, and one step was above his foot to upshift. He said his knee never had to move, his ankle did all the shifting.... Plus when his knee was good enough to use again the next year he just put the old level back on .....
