Warn winch stopped working
#5
My local Kawasaki dealer did the install and did not send the wiring diagram home with my machine. I hear these Warn selenoids can be quirky. I will go follow the ground and power wires to make sure I have good connections.

Do you have a test light, or better yet a voltage meter?
If so, take a reading at the cables that go from the selenoid to the winch. My guess is that you won't have voltage when you push the in/out buttons, which would confirm that it is the selenoid. Since it clicks, one can assume there is power to the handlebar switch, which is making it to the contactor.
Also, there was a recall on 4 post contactors, but I'd bet yours is too new to be affected.

I ended up following all wiring from the battery to the switch to the selenoid. When the tech ran the wire from the swith to the selenoid, he never zip stripped it to the frame. He had about a foot of excess wire all bunched up above the exhaust pipe. Needlless to say, after the machine warmed up, it melted this bunch into a big glob of wire and plastic. I re-ran it with new and it works fine. Just goes to show, if you want it done right, do it yourself! Thank you everybody for your input!
