Default warning sticker removal

I just purchased a new sportsman x2 800 yesterday and want to remove the warning stickers. I have read some of the suggestions on this site and used a hair dryer to heat up and peel off one sticker. It came off easy, I then used goo-gone to remove the adhesive residue. It looks like It took the shine off of the new plastic. Has anyone experienced this?

Ok I just tried this again 8 mo later. The machine is getting older and I hate the big stickers on the front fenders. Used the hair dryer again and the stickers came right off about 2 min. It left behind the adhesive. So I soaked w/goo gone and cleaned it off using fresh towels every pass. The bulk of it seemed to come off quick. I have HO flourecent lights in the garage. After this procedure the fender looks like crap!! It looks like it has oxidation (sat in the desert for 10 yrs.) I think it is an adhesive residue. 2 rolls of shop towels and 2hrs later still hasent gotten much better.

My sp800 is black (dont think this would be color specific though)

Anyone else tried this or had these problems
Thanks

After 8 months there will be a change in color due to fading. Not much you can do to that short of buffing the entire area to even it out. This is really a problem on the dark colors - black especially.

I think I know what you are talking about. On an older machine the paint under the sticker Is going to look new compared to the area around it that has light exposure.

Im not sure what is going on w/mine though. It left a wierd foggy static residue behind.

I can rub my finger over the foggy area and it changes color.

My buddy is a auto body painter. I am waiting for him to look at it. Hope I didnt damage the fender.

It sounds like you took all the adhesive off and then some. It may have melted the surface a little bit. It's a good thing you didn't use Goof Off. That would have wrecked it for sure. Good luck, and keep us posted.
