I believe in due diligence. Just having a spotter tells me you were trying to avoid an accident. That is ALL you can do. Get the police involved, if you have to but don't let the guy bully you.

Spoken like a true cynic. Since we can't hear the other guy's story, maybe you should give this guy the benefit of the doubt instead of making him out as a liar? Not everybody is dishonest.

The guy must have known there were others jumping behind him. I say fock him. The police wont do jackshit. I'd offer him one more time to pay a portion of the cost, and if he doesnt agree or doesnt give you a chance....walk away.
