Default dual battery setup for atv

I was thinking of running a second battery in my quad to power the winch and some lights, what would i need to do this ? could i just go to the hardware store and get a battery isolator for a truck and use that between the two batteries? or are those just for trucks with alternator?I think a quad has a stator...right ? can anyone help me out with some info on a dual battery setup for a quad thanx

I did a google search on dual battery setups and came up with alot of info. I know marine & campers often use a dual setup.

If you have a Polaris Sportsman you can get a kit ready-made for it at quadovator.com. I don't know of any made for other brands or models, but it's a good idea if you run a lot stuff off your battery.
