On the 14th of July my suzuki eiger was stolen out of my fathers yard where i am staying at the present time,as of now it has not been recovered, so on the the 23rd my father filed it on his home owners after already being told it was covered, well today we get a phone call telling us it was not,you can imagne how i feel right this min. There explanation was that if it was being used for pleasure then it was not covered.Well just 3 years ago my father had the samething happen to him and the same insurance company replaced it with a brand new one.My question is have laws changed or did we do something wrong or does it seem that they just dont want to pay for it???I would love to hear any and all ideas!! Thanks, Todd

You do remember how you use it to plow snow and pull the mower behind it dont you?
Now they say if it's got a title it has to have it's own policy. I've been down this road before. On your next one get full coverage. It will be around $150 a year. Best thing I ever did. A kid got on mine when I wasent at home and totaled it out. She was hurt and needed a helichopter ride to the hospital. My insurance paid out over $100,000 and all is well now. Good luck!

Sorry to hear that. Been there. Had my brand new enclosed trailer with two atvs and all my tools, spare rims/tires, etc. etc. you get the picture.....stolen a couple of years ago. Luckily, I have always insured them and this time it paid off. The problem is, when my homeowners policy covered the contents of the trailer less the atv's I thought they were pretty cool and doing me a favor. Little did I know it was going to pay off for them because they jacked up my policy the next renewal and I have been paying for it ever since! I have more than paid for what they covered. It's a $#%@* scam if you ask me. Not to say it still isn't worth it, like in CamoKodiak's case, but you have to be careful how much the claim is and if it is worth it. Not sure what your eiger was worth, but it may be better off to eat it now than to pay for it over the next few years? Either way, it is my experience that in cases like this it is really up to the insurance company whether they are going to cover it or not and it comes down to having a good agent that you have a relationship with and will help you out. I will tell you they are hard to fight and know it! They have very deep pockets and more attorneys than my whole town has!

Sorry to hear about your Eiger, Eager.
I may have set a record when my two ATVs were stolen, the replacement ATV was stolen the next year, recovered, and stolen again less than a year later. 4 thefts of 3 ATVs in less than 2 years.
I've always had a seperate policy, just like a car policy, from Progressive or someone else. When the first TWO were stolen, I got enough money to buy ONE new one. I just changed my deductible from $500 to $100 on comp and collision. Depending on the age of the machine you lose thousands of dollars since they don't cover replacement costs, but at least you get something. The insurance is probably $120-150 a year depending on your deductible.
