I would like to silence or greatly cut down on the noise coming out of the muffler. Does anybody know a way to do this? Are there any aftermarket mufflers out there that will do this? I've thought about welding up some type of rig (large ammo box, filled w/ insulation and wire) and attaching to the back rack. Anybody got any ideas? Thanks, bullshooter

If you're gonna get that radical why don't you see if a Yugo muffler or somethng like that will fit it. Some of those cars have tiny mufflers and they should be pretty cheap and they are deffinately quiet.

Turn off the key!!! J/K

Unless you do some homemade mods you will find that the stock exhaust will be the quietest...

Jim from the Polaris Fourum used thermal tape for wrapping header tubes on his Scrambler. He commented that it cut down on the sound coming from the pipe. He has photos posted of the mods on his home page.

I dont know about making it quieter, might lose some performance (thats a priority for me) but re-directing the sound might help, Most 4 stroke exausts that have the disc setup on them seem to be more offensive if your behind or beside the bike, but not to the rider of the bike.. Different styles of pipes will "throw" their sound differently.
