I just bought a brand new atv today. Rode it 4 times and now it wont start, just gives me a click. I dont know the brand (overseas) Doesnt have a pull start just has a remote/key start. Battery is fully charged,lights come on bright. Wont jump start from the car. Could the starter be fried already?

 

nevermind, husband is just going to put in a pullstart.

 

connect the earth lead from yor car battery to the frame and the positive from the battery to the positive on the back of the starting motor and see if that works if it does then you might have a problem with the starter solinide

 

Yeah thanks Pauley we already tried that. My husband owns a few mechanic shops so he has tried all that. He thinks because he jumped it with the car battery so many times (its brand new, sat in a store for about a year, he didnt fully charge the battery) that he fried the starter. I told him and told him the battery needed to be charged before we ride but he wanted to so badly he didnt take heed in my words. Funny thing is it was bought for my birthday and I only got to ride a couple of times. Anywho my husband is probably thinking of putting in a pullstart. We have 2 other small Kid atvs that he wants to do the same as well (fried starters.lol.) Well thanks again Pauley. Hope you have a great 2009!

 

just to let you know if your atv has manual gears you can also start it on a push
