I have a ktm525. My quad had set for 2 months. I drained the gas cleaned the carb. I changed the plug, checked the spark, and cleaned the filter. Iturned the Idle all the way back finally got it to start. I will start but if I take my hand off the throttle it shuts off. If i turn the idle up it wont start because of the TPS sensor. How do I get it to Idle.

If nothing else changed while it was down, there shouldn't be any reason why it won't start now. Make sure the bolts on the carb are all tight, assuming you took it apart to clean it properly. Put the idle back to where it should be, pump the throttle a few times and it should start. It could just be air in the fuel line and it's keeping the engine from running because of a sudden loss of fuel.

do a vaccume test and make sure you dont have an air leak. take off air filter, place hand tightly over intake. hit the kill switch and hit the starter button a few times. this will create a vaccume in the intake. the vacccume should hold for a few seconds. is it dose not you have a leak.

did you happen to clean your pilot jet when you cleaned the carb? most people dont and that is the problem. pilot jet is located outside the bowl twords the engine. its a small brass skrew. remove it clean well, then its OUT about 2 1/2 turns from tight.

I had my quad in the shop today. My mech said, do to so much play in the throttle cable. the tps was coming into play. It was trying to kill the motor when I let off the throttle.
