Default ATV Security

I am about to purchase a new atv. Recently I have seen several stories of people getting their atv's stolen. One guy had it stolen from his garage, the other guy had his whole trailer stolen. What is the best method of protecting your atv when it's in the back of your pickup or in the garage? Are there any devices that I should not bother using? Thanks for your help.

I got a nice quote from Dairyland. I also got was seemed like super low rate from a company called Ballins. Is that a good insurance company? I was leaning towards either Geico or Dairyland.

Not sure, just make sure the coverages are comparable and cover theft.

I agree, guns also do a good job. Just make sure you don't hit the quad

Take the key out of the ignition.

In the past we would move the fuel shutoff on our snowmobiles deep inside the footwells where you couldn't see it . You had to know it was there . At least they couldn't ride it away . I've seen bikes chained to a tiedown that is anchored in concrete also .

Cables and regular chains and locks are too easy to cut. After having 5 ATVs stolen in 2 years I've upgraded my security. I'm using a Xena Bullett Lock and an ABUS 14mm Maximum Security Chain to anchor it to my trailer. And I have two TRIMAX wheel locks, one on the trailer and one on the ATV. When the weather is nice I'll put a ground anchor a foot down into the concrete driveway too.

P.S. The ATV isn't on the trailer, and the chain is too short to load it up. If someone gets both wheel locks off they still have to drag the trailer sideways to take the ATV. The new padlock and chain can't be cut with bolt cutters like my old lock and log chain.

Kryptonite New York/Fughedaboudit chain and lock! I keep my quads in a big circle, and every one is chained to two others. If I have a trailer, I chain it to the truck (truck has a kill switch!). If the trailer is off the truck, I chain up the wheels.

I have used these for 10 years now, and have left my trailer and quads in the woods for days, not to mention seedy motel parking lots.....never an inkling that anybody ever even tried to mess with them!!!
