Question Shift Combat Boots

When I was riding this past weekend, it was rather annoying trying to shift with my big, clunky hunting boots. But I've been putting off getting a pair of riding boots since they're so dang expensive. I had always kind of planned on getting some Alpinestars boots, but their Tech 3 ATV boot is over $150!! And that's one of their lowest end boots!

So I decided to do some research and found the Shift Combat Boots. Rocky Mountain has them for only $79.95!

My question is, are they going to be half as good as the A*'s since they're half the price? The boots got good reviews from RM customers, so they can't be too bad, unless all the reviewers are boot noobs like myself.

Any insight you could give me would be much appreciated!

Also, how in the world can some boots cost $500, and others only cost $80?? That just seems absolutely absurd! The $500 boots must be stitched with golden thread or something!

They don't look like bad boots. I've always been partial to AlpineStars myself. but any boot is better than no boot at all.

Yeah, they look real nice.

How do boot sizes run? Are they pretty consistent with shoe sizes?

My stars are 10's, and that's my regular boot size.

If you can go buy a dealer, just try a pair (any pair) on and see how they feel. If you do order from RMATV, they have a very good return policy if they don't fit.

But, be sure to order them well before you plan to ride, so if they are the wrong size, you can get them swapped out before your next ride.

The main difference with $100 boots and $400 boots are the materials, and often the comfort........ They are probably both just as safe, but the $100 boot might only last 2 years and the $400 might last 4 years....... Give or take..... but it all depends on how hard you ride too.... I've had boots last 1 year, and boots last 3 years, and I generally only spend between $80 and $150 for boots. It has been my experience that Alpine Stars don't last that much longer and thus are not really worth the extra money for me.....Others would disagree.

Some of the best boots I've ever worn are made by THOR, and cost $130....they are super comfortable and last a long time. Right now I'm running MSR mxt boots, they are also under $150 and seem great so far........

The Shift boots you are looking at are nice, I've tried them on and might have gone with them had the MSR boots not been on sale. I would say the size is close to a Reebok sneaker.

I tried on some A* Tech 3's and they're super comfy. I think I might just splurge and get them.
