Blending Sport and Utility
#21
show me a sporty that will get through this and I'll buy it

skill is important- but so are mechanical limits

And the Can-Am Renegade.

(hehe- we told him we all went through it just to get him stuck even though we all went around it
but the joke was on us because he made it and I ended up getting stuck trying to go around
)that bog my popo is in ended up having a "false" bottom that eventually swallowed my popo! bogs are tricky- and very unpredictable

these kinds of mud holes are typical in the new england area- which is why it's great to have a sport / utility blend to ride. atv's like the renegade give you the agility of a sport ride with the ruggedness of the ute to get you through these obsticles. You ain't getting no raptor or 450r through this crap- I don't care how good your riding skills are!

kevin shot this neat pic of me coming out of a deep mud hole- it was a nasty stinky hole

I love how everyone discounts a sports ability to handle ruts, rocks, mud, etc. A lot of it comes down to rider skill and a properly set up machine. If you don't believe me go to a GNCC or any local scramble sometime. The GNCC are great for this as the ams and utes run in the morning while the top riders get the track AFTER the utes have run it in. Mud-usually, deep ruts-absolutely, crazy steep technical climbs-almost certainly. Even on recreational rides I have done some technical climbs on my sporty that the utes refused to do. The machines are capable, but again it is more rider skill.
oh yeah!
And about the hills:
Most "utes" couldn't do that! Think so, try out west point tn!

Well, beergut is right... For that... He needs 4x4.... Anything else..... sport!

Although i wouldn't mind giving that little ole puddle a try.

There is nothing wrong with blending sport and utility. What you get is a well rounded machine. Sportys can go most places a 4x4 can and 4x4 can go most places a sporty can. IMHO its not about the machine..... Its about the rider. How fast do you like to go and how big are your *****....
When I had my old Lakota I could pull away from a built Raptor 700 on the trail and it wasnt hard.
Its all about being dumb and having a heavy thumb. Those 2 things will get most machines through anything. Besides being out of your machines "comfort zone" is what makes for a fun ride.

Thats about right. When you break the skin on top of the bog you will stink like a swamp for the rest of the day.
