So, a little about my project. I am opening a Campground to service the Hatfield McCoy and Spearhead Trails. The property we have purchased is 7 acres in Pocahontas, Virginia. We are open to all kinds of suggestions and the more input the better! We are planning to open this summer around the same time as the Pocahontas branch of the Spearhead trails.

We are planning to begin with 10 cabins as well as a retail store front expansion would be dependent on our success with the 10. What kind of amenities are you as a rider looking for in a lodging facility? Price range? RV slots? Discrepancies? I'm all ears!

On site fuel, RV spots are an easy way to increase campers I would guess, direct access to trails or trailer shuttle service?, if you want campers/rvs in there, a sewage station and potable water source is nice.

And I think it would be really nice to have the spare parts I need when they break on the trails (wishful thinking)

Titty bar is always nice.

Cabins with hot showers and basic cookware, stove, and microwave are nice. Direct access to the trails, and gas on site are great too. A deli/restaurant is nice after a long day riding when no one wants to cook. Wash station for the quads with good water pressure.

TLC's idea would drive me away, personally.

Like it's been mentioned on-site fuel would be a good idea. A shower would be nice whether it's dry and dusty or wet and muddy.

Ethanol free gas on site. Level RV sites with electricity, and clean shower house. Wireless internet, Red Box, Cell phone service, full bay wash area with a lift.

If you're going to do RV spots, highly suggest they have full hook-ups...30/50A electric, water, sewage and possibly cable. You would probably be surprised at what you can charge when you have a nice place.

With an onsite attorney would be good too. And a place to stay when said attorney hands over all my stuff to the wife.


Oh, and a bill changer.

Wouldn't it be easier just to stay in town?

There is a spot we used to go to a lot that had most of the things listed. No internet, no restaurant and no car wash.

But nice pull through rv spots with full hookups. Primitive camping areas. Clean shower areas and access to fresh water. Separate parking for day only use. Ride to and from the area, albeit at a safe speed. There is a convenience store about 1 mile away. Surprisingly, didn't have outlandish prices. Also on a lake so fishing, boating and swimming were other activities available. Cabins were nearby, but not part of the riding area, as well as normal campgrounds. You'd have haul the quads in, but the day use parking was free.

The "town" was about 20 minutes away, so you could find all types of places to eat. And casinos. No telling how much money I lost while the guys rode and the girls gambled.
