Helmets and Goggles
#1
I currently use a full face snowmobile helmet from Yamaha/Lazer. The shield is very scratched, and I have spent a couple hours with Novus polish to make it useable again. Since this is a special product from Yamaha/Lazer, I am sure it will be expensive at the yamaha dealer for a new shield(lazer can't help).
I am considering going with a full face off-road helmet with scott goggles. How does this combination work? Is it hot? I do like the ability to change the goggle lens for the day, and they do have quick release and eyeglass models(i wear contacts, but may wear my eyeglasses).
Thoughts???
Thanks,
Rainman

I used to wear the snowmobile type helment and switched last year to the full face motorcross type helment with the goggles. First, the mx helment is much cooler as the mx helment tends to be more ventalated. Also, the visor on the mx helment brings some air in as there is vent holes under it. As for the goggles, they work good for keeping the dust out of your eyes. You do suffer some additional discomfort wearing the goggles, but you get used to wearing them quickly. Also, the goggle lenses are fairly cheap to replace when they get scratched. Try several pairs on and go with the ones that fit and feel the best. Hope this helps.
