Hello everyone this is my first time posting here. I just have a couple of questions. Im a begining rider and i have about 1600 to spend on a quad. I am leaning towards a used blaster, any pros and cons of this bike? All suggestions are appreciated. btw im only 150lbs so im thinking a 200cc bike is good start right? thanks in advance.

welcome sr2,
The blaster is excellent, thiers many things that are said to pick apart all our quads, but more poeple have had blaster than any other for sure.
It's a graet quad, pretty cheap to buy and fast.
Thiers bunches of after market stuff for it, and it's plain ole fun!!!

I found the reeds braek easy, but easy to replace and cost $25
The a-arm bushings need replaced, because poeple don't grease them, also cheap fix.
And you will hier that the brakes suck, because thier drums, seal them well or clean them after water rides.
The head bolts need tourqued every so often.
The quad runs a lot better if you disconnect the oil injection and mix your gas.
Use one kind of good two stroke oil.
I know I listed some things but I work on lots of blasters and all these problems came from young guys who just needed to braek it to learn how to keep it up.
Very reliable and fun quad!!!

A freind of mine told me that on 2 strokes the engine has to be rebuilt after 500 hours of riding is this true? Do you think id be better off with a four stroke? Sorry so many questions but id rather learn the easy way. Im a mechanic by trade so if the maint is simular to cars im still getting the blaster. thanks for your help.

This is a low dallor up keep quad.
The top end will last as long as you keep it up.
I've seen them last for years and I've seen them last a month, but it's a two stroke!!
The motor can be built in frame in about two hours time at about $100 machining included.
You will always hier some crap from every one about any quad you pick.
From my experience that same friend will be telling every one thet the blaster is the graetest thing sense sliced bread a month after you get it.
Put amsoil in the tranny and amsoil two stroke oil in the gas, will run for ever!!!!!!!!

The Blaster is a good machine but NO REVERSE.
Get a machine with a reverse!
Reverse is a must have for trail riding. The Warrior is a very good machine (a friend has one).
