Well i think i found the perfect quad its a 96 blaster with aftermarket exaust, handle bars, nerfbars, and wheels and tires for 1500 it does need a brake cable though. Im going to go look at it tommorrow is there anything in particular i should be looking for? Where are they most prone to cracking in the frame?

sounds like a nice one
two things I've notice, under the seat by were the grab bar bolts up, usualy they are welded under thier.
swing arm and a-arm bushings, if you could bring a milk crate and set the quad on it, try shaking the swing arm side to side, and then grab the front wheels and shake them up and down and side to side.

This is what they like to do:
turn the front tires around so valve stems are inside, this is good.
Drill holes in air box or remove cover, get the cover holes or not.
wiesco piston or bore kit, get the reciepts or write down dates and what was done, also look were the head mates to the jug, is thier an oil leak.

has the carb been jetted, jet kit or just changed the main, when was the reads changed last.

Look closely around were the engine mont bolts to the frame for cracks.

All of these are easy fixxes, but the more you save the more you have to work with.

just a badly broken or cracked frame is going to be a no deal, the rest of the stuff is some what cheap and just about any of the yamaha guys can help you out.
Good luck!!!!

Hey just replying to your last question. I think the places to look for craks would be where the bend point's are but make sure you check it all reall good. Oh yeah just wanted to say Iv'e had a blaster( red/white yr.1989) for a year and I have been reall happy with it, oh and iv'e never had to rebuild the top end. Also, make sure you get the oil to gas mixture right so ya dont burn your engin up, and check your trnsmission oil evry once and a while. well good luck with your blaster. fell free to send me a message for my acount on here. oh and let me know how it go's with the blaster

Well i picked up my blaster today its a 94. So far the only thing it needs are new brake cables and yes it does have front drums but its got a rear disc. Just wanted to know if im better off leaving the oil injection as is or should i mix my own gas? whats the mix ratio? thanks fellas.

the rear disc is a 300 up grade, graet!!
The oil injection tends to run rich, most block it off and mix thier gas.
I'm not sure what the mixture ratio is, just call the dealer or it may be in the owners manual.

Hope you have fun!!!!

sr2 ditch the oil injector before it ditches you.A mix of 40:1 would be good.
