I'm looking to get a winch but I'm curious is a winch mount kit and a winch plate the same thing? Some places say you must buy the mount kit separate which is logical they have to be bike specific. However some places say you must buy the winch "plate" separately, is this what the fairlead bolts to then the whole thing gets put on the mounting kit? Thanks

Most places sale the winch, then sales the mounting kit. Some winches come with a roller fairlead like the Warn 2500A and the Ramsey 2500.The Warn 2000 does not come with a roller. If you buy a Ramsey besure to buy a plate that will work with the Ramsey. You can go to www.candssales.com or www.atvdepot.com. PS the Ramsey has a wireless remote.

Default Winch Mount Plate?

For a 500 rubicon the warn mount system is the choice. flipped the rube 4 times end over end (one crash) the mount survived intact and I winched the poor rube up the hill and home to safety. Likewise it beefed up the front end of the rube to the point that after a front bumper, rack and headlight the rube was good as new. Incredible!

I'm still seeing the chiropractor.......
