my cable is screwed and I can get a free cable and hook but I don't know what I can use for the eyelet that fastens to the barrell of the winch. Any ideas would be great as I can get the cable for free. I think on the newer ones the cable fastens on the inside of the barrell but mine is on the side and it fastens with a 1/4 inch screw

I don't think that will work cause it has to go on the side of the barrell I think I might try and tie it on and once some wraps are on there it should be fine

lpstudio,
I went to the hardware store and found a eyelet in the electrical department. It was copper and easy to get to work.

yes,
I crimped it on the best I could, but I also am very careful not to unreel it all the way as I dont know if it is a strong enough crimp to hold a hard pull.
