I have worn SIDI MX boots for many years on both bikes and now on quads. They are made of top grain cowhide rather that split grain. a cheaper and less flexible cut of leather. Top grain usually requires little or no breakin due to their flexibility. My current boots are SIDI flexes which are hinged at the ankle.

I bought a pair of Alpinestatr's Tech 6. They are really good boots($400 Canadian). They come in Tech 8 but that is and extra $500 for a removable booty on the inside of the boot.

I mean extra $100, not $500, whoops!

I've got a pair of the Gaerne, 'oiled leather' in brown. can'tthink of the model name. they've got a lugged sole that hasn't got a tear after 6 months. They are super comfortable and breathe great while still being waterproof. What i love is that they look like regular boots with long pants on. they run about a size large i'd say. retail $240. I got 2 pair for $400 from RyanYoung Products.
I just got a pair of the ARC, Corona from RMATV for my son and they aren't worth any more than the $80 charged, by first impression. Good luck.
