I have been out riding in two diferent areas over the last two weeks. In both places their were a lot of people riding with out helmets. After years of snowmobiling it just comes natural for me to wear mine. With the speeds ATV's can go and the type of riding we do, I can't see any reason for not wearing one. JMO Tim

Our ATV club everybody wears one except for 1 guy. This is a family club consisting of mainly utility quads, a couple of sports.

Just an observation.

Anyone who does not wear a helmet all the time should have his head examined... and probably will! By definition, accidents are an unplanned event so we need to plan for the unplanned.

I agree it's just stupid not to wear a helmet. The only time i don't wear mine is when i move it about 10ft. from my garage to my sidewalk and i go real slow. Anyone that doesn't wear a helmet should be fined!!!

I absolutely wear my helmet EVERY time i ride. A couple weeks after buying my y2k Kodiak I upset my wife and I, in some rocks and I landed head first in the rocks. I believe to this day if not for the grace of God and my helmet that I would be DEAD.

I always where a helmet and won't ride with anyone who doesn't. I think that anyone who doesn't wear one is crazy. But, 400exalltheway, please tell me your kidding about fining people for not wearing helmets. The last thing that we need is more laws. We can police ourselves. I don't need or want anyone protecting me from myself!

I wear mine 100% of the time now. I have a new 3 month old girl. So I have something to live for. And wearing my helmet will help me do that in case of an accident.

Next time you see them out there w/o a helmet, park next to them, take your helmet off, show them the scars and scratch marks on it.

I know my helmet has far too many gouges to even imagine what my head would have looked like.

Dont forget the goggles. Shortly after I started riding I did a nasty endo in the woods. I hit a stick, eye first. Fortunately my goggles stopped it. It hit hard enough to pop the lense partially out of it. I have no doubt I would have lost my left eye or even worse. I often skip the helmet when loading my quad into my truck but I suppose that's one of the most dangerous times. It'd hurt like heck to land head first on the pavement!
