4-8 Cylinder Go-Cart or Dune-Buggy!
#1
Hey I was wondering if i could get any suggestions or comments on what Im planning on doing, anything would be appreciated!!
I want to build a Go-Cart frame but it aint going to have no lil 5hp brigs, its going to have atleast a 4cylinder Car engine and tranny!
I can build the go-cart frame in two days, I have all the tools i need including Welder and torch.
I want to put the engine in the back where the Tranny will hook straight to the Car rearend producing lots or torque. But the backend will have to much weight so when i hit the gas its going to ***** everytime thats if i put a ***** bar and tractor weights in the front =-). I really want to do this, this summer! Any suggestions about how to set up the Drive train would be really appreciated.

I don't really have much info to offer. I just wanted to say that I know a guy who used a Subaru engine in a 1 seater that he built from scratch. Roll cage, double a-arms, etc... everything came together great.

i am kinda having the same idea but a little bit different. i plan on getting a cr or kx 500cc 2 stroke engine(70 hp) and weighing alot less than a 4 cylinder and making it a 4x4 go cart with a front engine (to distribute the weight) using a 4 wheeler swing arm where the go cart axle is and connecting it there you may have a little more luck doing something like that

Look at the vw rails, they are awesome. Lots of info and kits out there for them. Most of the big ones run the vw van powertain, 36 or 38 swampers, about 104 to 110 wheel base. They also have a dual master cylender brake setup in addition to the brake pedal, push the lever forward= left brake, pull it back=right brake, use it to limit wheel spin and to make sharp turns. They climb some insane stuff with them, and they're great trail ridding machines.
