flooding
#1
Has anyone ever had a problem flooding the crankcase with fuel on banshees? I never had but think I may have. I get a spark and the cylinder gets fuel but won't fire. I even dumped a little fuel in the cylinders to make sure. Do I need to rip the carbs and reeds out and stand the quad up to empty the crank or is this not a problem with banshees?

forgot to leave some background... I had the 1 into 2 carb and pulled it off and put my stock carbs back on with a 290 main and 30 pilot. New K & N filters. Installed a new set of Delta-V Force reeds. Installed a proline timing advancer plate and set timing +4 degrees per Brandon's advice. I get spark so that shouldn't be the reason. Running 110 octane fuel.

Try putting the 2 into one back on. If it runs, then you know the carbs are out of wack. Have varied the throttle position while trying to crank it? More advancement does tend to make an engine hard to start, but it shouldnt be too bad. Try the old carb, then try backing the timeing down. The stockers could have dirt in the needle valve and causing them to overflow inot the intakes and into the cylinders. Try stuff until you hit on something. Trial and error will probably be your only soulution. Make sure your fire is good adn that all grounds are good. Do you still ahve all that junk (tors) hooked up? Your problem could be there as well. Lets us know what you find.

You may want to try a little starter fluid. Open the throttle and spray a LITTLE into the carb. We have to do this allot on our alcohol motors. Only use it to get it started this time. If you still have problems after getting it up once, then there is a problem somewhere else.

Brandon, T.O.R.S. have been history for about three years... I have a motion pro twist throttle with the carb caps to eliminate them.. Started just fine with the graydon single carb on just two weeks ago. Hated that single carb so I am back to the duals.. I am gonna try a few more things before I put the single one back on. I have a feeling it is in the carbs, but two friends suggested that the case could be full of fuel and that it will never start unless I drain it. I will keep trying tonight and I'll let ya know if I hit it. Thanks!!!

I put the timing back to stock and put the single carb back on and still no fire...This is a first.. Is it possible that my timing is still so far off that it sparks when it's not suppose to?? I get good blue spart from both sides... I am going to rip the carb and reeds off and stand the quad up on the back to see if any fuel runs out of the cylinders in case it is flooded.. Any one ever have this problem?
