NEED HELP with a LT250R
#1
Today i was riding my `87 lt250r i was at about half throttle and i began hearing a loud clicking noise coming from the engine and then i pulled the clutch and the engine died. i tried to kick it but it wouldn`t turn over. the shifter still shifts gears. i tried to bump start it but as soon as i let out the clutch the rear tires locked and i slid to a stop. i mixed the fuel with sinthetic oil at 44:1 which is the same i have always run it as. i didn`t change the jets or anything like that. i don`t know what happened. i know it sounds like the engine siezed but i don`t know how that could have happened. i had been running it pretty hard all day. i havent had a top end job in while if that could have anything to do with it. any help with what happened will be appriciated.

i had the same problem with a an '86 a few years back. bike was in great shape, all stock, and one day it seized. it was the main bearingat the base of the connecting rod. your dealing with an old bike, and a lot of revs on her. i couldnt even kick it over. does yours kick? because when it went, all was locked up, unless it was in neutral.

thumb Throttler, is all that i need to do is replace that bearing or the whole crankshaft too? or anything else i need to replace? and how much do you think this is going to cost me? mine wont kick over either.

I hate to bee the one to tell you but if your crank bearings are that wore you should at least change both side bearings and seals. Usually if the crank bearings are bad the connecting rod isnt in that great of shape either. I would recomend changing yhat too, if your crank bearings are bad.
