Polaris 2 stroke engine swap?
#1
I have a 95 Sport 400 that I took the engine out of to put in my Sportsman, and, I have a 87 250 with a busted tranny - other than some electrical mods and removing the radiator stuff, will the 250 bolt into the Sport frame?

I got around to finishing the engine swap today - I now have a 250cc powered Sport 400 . Was not all that difficult - the 250 engine is 3/4" narrower than the 400, so the engine had to be shifted towards the clutch side. The 400 exhaust pipe had to be heated and stretched 3/4" towards recoil starter side to meet the muffler, the air intake for the clutch had to be modified (thank God for the plastic welder!), the airbox intake had to be added to to meet the 250's carburetor (250's thumb throttle and cable was used), and the only electrical that I changed was the CDI box (not sure if it needed to or not, just did it).
The bike seems to have enough power for the average individual - although it does take a little longer to reach top speed than the 400 engine did ?.
Now back to finishing the 400 rebuild to put in my Sportsman before deer season starts in a week and a half (if I were really nice to my wife, she might let me use her SP500 if I don't get it done in time )
