What can I put on my plastic fenders to give them a smooth permanent shine and protect them from scratches? I had to replace the rear fenders on my DS650 because they broke apart where they bolt to the foot protectors. The old fenders are scratched also, so I figured I should try to protect the new ones. I also want them to be easier to clean - dried dirt takes some time to wash off. And, sometimes tiny drops of chain grease land on the fenders and is almost impossible to get off.

I have tried armor all and it has to be re-applied every week. I was thinking about something with more protection that is more permanent like floor wax.

I heard that Mop-n-Glo works well.

I have used the Mop and Glo and it looks great until the first time you ride or wash it. The wax coating begins coming off in some places, but not others. You end up with shiny and dull spots, all over. It then takes a ton of elbow grease and ammonia to get all the wax off.

I would stay away from Mop and Glo.

I've used Plastic renew but that was alot of work and it just became scratched after a few times riding. Now I've been experimenting with the new tire gels, the last few times I've been riding and have found they work alot better than the son of a gun or armorall, water now beads on the plastic and mud just falls off. It takes a bit longer to apply than the armorall and you still have to apply it about every other washing but I like the results alot better, Ive used the Maguire's brand tire gel (because it was the cheapest...$4.50) but the bottle has lasted me 5 times longer than a large bottle of son of a gun.

Try furniture polish. Works good but you have to apply it after each wash.
