Banshee cylinder head shaving?
#1
I was going to buy a PD coolhead with 19cc domes for my Banshee, but instead I decided to have a shop shave my heads instead. My question is, how much has to be shaved to get 19cc's of compression? Thanks in advance.

Any quality machine shop should be able to figure that out for you. If they are asking you what to do, find a different shop!
You should be able to walk in there, tell them the end result in regards to what you want, and they should be able to perform.
.050" is a good chunk of material, don't take this lightly, once you remove material, it can't be replaced (easily nor cheaply).

Generally speaking, I find .020" to be the max that we will remove from the head. I have seen Banshee heads that have .040" removed and the mating material gets very thin. This is a great way to warp a head and/or cause head gasket blowouts. If you look on a banshee head in between the cylinders there is mostly water jacket passages and head stud holes, this makes for very little in terms of support for the head. If I wanted to get high compression beyond shaving the .020", I would buy an ADR Racing, with whatever domes you require. To me this is a much better solution, instead of taking the risk of destroying a top end with the shaving method. Don't get me wrong, there are gains to be had when you shave the head, IF you rechamber it also. Just my thoughts. Later.
