Can someone tell me how is the best way to get the bearing and seal out of the side case and then replace it with a new one. The bearing ceased up causing the plastic gear to melt into it, any help would be appreciated.

Press the bearing out on a press, the seal will be ruined, but you should replace it anyways. If you don't have a press use a Vise and the proper sockets. Good luck..

The manual recomends heating the side cover gradually then knocking it out or pressing it out. The seal should be replaced with the bearing. When installing bearing and seal apply grease to seal, bearing, and cover surfaces.

Thanks for your advice. I went and bought one of those small propane torches and heated it up slow and pounded it out with no trouble at all, When putting the new bearing in I was wondering about putting it in the freezer for a while then installing it in the case, do you think this would help any thanks agin for all of your help

That's not too bad of an idea. Depends on the bearing material though, if it's not stainless steel, your going to get a lot of condensation inside the bearing

Not to mention water and oil / grease don't mix too well. Just grease the hell out of it, and it should tap right in.

I just pressed my bearing out using two sockets and the vise..came out real easy.

the price of a new seal was a real kick in the head though..it was 15 bucks!!!
