Default Engine Temp?

Im Installing a thermometer on my quad so I can monitor Engine temp when racing up Sand Mountain. Anyone know what temp a 2 stroke motor should run. It is a Honda Cr500 motor but im sure most two strokes should run close to the same temp. Any info would be great
thanks

A friend of mine put a sensor on the head pipe of his Pilot. You wouldn't believe how quickly it would jump up or down. You could be in a bowl and it would hit about 1150-1200 and crest the top and cruz which would result in temps of about 700.

I plan on putting it on the radiator hose or somewhere on the radiator. Wherever I can get the best reading. i havent had time to install it yet

placing it on the hose that goes to the radiator, just after it passes through the engine would get you the best readings.

If you run it hard I would put an EGT and a CHT on it also.

It's etg exahust temp gauge, it's probly the best way to go.tell's by temp if your rich or lean so you dont lose your top end also can use it for a temp gauge too. by knowing your exhaust temp you save your motor before somthing bad happens, and esr makes a in line rad hose temp gauge for 80$. I'm gonna run both.
