Default choke problems?

Im having a problem with my Cr500 choke. It is a keihin carb when I am racing up Sand mountain at the sand dunes about half way up the hill my choke lever will pop up and then of course the bike doesnt run worth a crap. I have been having to put a wire tie around it so that it wont pop up. Anyone ever have this problem and what may cause it?

hey I think its the vibes, mine dosent do that but when I'm at sitten still and I rev the motor the bike vibes so bad that my carb dumps fuel out of the overflow! I would take it apart and inspect.

You just might have to tke the choke apart and clean/inspect.The detent must not be locking the shaft in place or the Shaft is worn out.

this sounds really stupid but do u really need the choke button thing. b/c on my card where the choke cable goes to its a lever u can push up or down for the choke, or is that like a back up thing if your cable breaks?

I have pulled the choke out and inspected it. It is a brand new lever cuz the old one was busted when I bought the quad. It never did it before until I recently rebuilt the motor. Last time out I tried racing up the hill and about 1/2 way up the hill about a 600-800 ft hill the motor would practically stall on me. So I would turn down the hill get to the botton and checking what was wrong and I found the choke up in full choke position. I just wire tie it down now but I would like to solve it if possible. Anyways it never did it until my last rebuild. So im at a loss for what is causing it

It is a KEIHIN Carb. I think its the original 85 CR500 Carb. I know it has been bored (have all old reciepts from bike) but other then that I do believe it is the original one
