Does a spark arrestor make a quad quieter? Is it needed?

 

Yes, it makes it quieter. You need it to be legal on most public lands I think, but not if your racing.

 

its supposed to make it about 2 db's softer, i dont use mine because it supposidly hurts performance and i dont expect any sparks comming out.

 

wouldnt removing the spark arrestor cause you to lose too much back pressure? I took mine off once just to see how it sounded, it sounded pretty neat but i dont know if it would jurt or benefit performance

 

no, removing the spark arrestor will not cause a performance loss due to release of back pressure. Typically it will increase performance or not change it at all.

No one PLANS on sparks shooting out the tailpipe. Unless you ride closed course races, then most federal/state/local agencies require one. Its not worth the hassle imo.

depends on the design of the pipe, the mods done to the atv, and which atv it is. Usually it does, but only minimally.
