auto vs manual
#1
Has any one done any side to side tesing with the same bike but with the auto vs manual differance (as far as performace outcome? )
In the automotive world the win light goes the the manual due to it soaking up less power than the autos converter. The rule of thumb is 10 % power loss threw a manual and 15% with an auto. I was wondering if it was the same end results with ATVs.

Well there is only a hand full of atvs that are availible as either manual or auto. All of these are utilities. The manual utes will outrun the auto of the same atv. Drive loss is another issue I'm surprised you didnt bring up. Shaft vs chain makes a difference as well.

Titanium and aluminum are still heavy. The best shafts are made from carbon fibre, that is, until we can find something stronger and lighter.
The shaft drive system causes greater power loss and is harder to alter gear ratios. These attributes make chains the choice for performance atvs that are made to be modified to increase power and necessitate the gearing changes.

I would say with any category...cars, dirtbikes, quads,,or anything that you can line up a clutch or an auto that is the same machine..the clutch will come out on top, you can work the gears better..and work the rpm levels to your advantage..plus In my opinion they are funner to ride and more challenging
