Thinking about a drag ATV
#1
I been thinking of building a drag ATV.
The local track seems to be getting invaded by some big city type boys with pretty potent Banshee's.
They're not real elaborate machines, except for the extended swingarm, exhaust, and tires, but they sure do generate the speed. Talking with the guys last weekend, they claim to be generating just over 100hp out of these things.
Anybody have any ideas for a cool project drag ATV to mess with these guys?

Sounds like a cool idea.
But the class I would like to run in, is 250cc to 500cc two-stroke unlimited.
Also possibly jumping into the 501cc and up unlimited, depending on the field.
So I would need to stay under, and as close to, the 500cc two stroke threshold.

get a banshee, and give trinity racing a call. they make a 535cc cheetah IV kit that they use as their "flagship" banshee. it doesn't have nitrous or turbo or super chargers or ne thing like that, and its wicked fast. get that thing, put in a turbo, some nitrous, and run a super high compression and you'll be smokin everybody. good luck!

I wouldnt go to trinity to build the motor. Other builders are better with the engine work. An R6 would be slow. Id run the R1 if anything. I prefer the gsxr perferably

I get to Southern California a few times a year (Ontario Area).
Trinity is on my list of stops next time out.
I have a few freinds out there putting out some feelers on different places to check out.
Who knows.... I may end up shipping home a complete racer.

That (spending) depends on what trips my trigger at the moment.
Only thing I do know, is I need to stay under and as close to, 500cc as I can.
I want to be able to jump up a class if the field looks ok.
It's mostly hillbillies with moderate modified machines running these local tracks, and I suspect the "big city" invaders are showing up, cuz they're getting their asses kicked down home. The track is about a 10th of a mile asphalt, and about 85mph seems to be a winning speed.
