A wolverine and $500 what do you get?

When I put my pipe w/ 7discs on and rejetted the carb, I noticed a significant amount more power throughout the powerband. A good filter and some uni-vents(about $6 for a set) helped too. I was in the same boat, where I wanted more power down low. These definitely helped in areas before where I would kind of bog (mud or towing heavy heavy loads), and now it has power to pull through or just spin, but no bogging. I haven't got stiffer clutch springs yet, but have heard they really help. They basically engage your clutch sooner so the wolvy gets goin sooner from a stop. Any more questions, feel free to ask.

I know that for around 550 you can get a 446 big bore kit for it that makes it pull HARD from Four Stroke Tech but if you feel like you want the two wheel drive and dont want to to heavy engine mods I would also choose the 424 and either the IDS2, DMC Alien, HMF Utility Series, Or a Big Gun Utility Serries all of those would be great pipes but the DMC and the Big Gun would be more of a mid range pipe.

Thanks for the info. I am not a mechanic, but I can use tools fine. I guess I am not sure what you mean by a pipe with 7 discs on. What exactly are discs? Also, how difficult was to rejet the carb? I have had my wolvy for 3 years and I am just starting to put mods into it. I appreciate the helps, especially the specific details.

Pipes such as Supertrapp IDS2 have a disc system in the end of them. The disc system basically can really open the exhaust up with more discs which helps top end but will make your bottom end weaker. By putting fewer discs (6 or 7) you are restricting the exhaust more than with more discs (12-15, or more), thus producing more low end torque. It's hard to explain what the disc system looks like w/out showing you, but they basically are put in the exhaust via a long screw that holds them in. White Bros. or Supertrapp's websites probably have a diagram or something so you can get a clearer image on how this works. I really like my IDS2 as you can make it a more top end or low end pipe depending on what you want, and the discs are protected. The pipe is pretty easy to put on, the rejetting is not that difficult either other than the brass screw that require a vice grip to avoid stripping. I never rejetted a carb in my life before I did the one on the wolverine and I had it done in about an hour.

I would have to agree the IDS2 is the most low end pipe you can get and is probably the most wallet friendly, HMF Utility woul be a low to mid range pipe that would pull stronger on the first half of powerband. The big bore kit is probably a little too extreme for trail riding its more of a gncc kit.
