KN stock replacement or KN Clamp On???
#1
Well just liek the title says, im planning on getting a full yoshimura exhaust on my Z400 along with a jet kit and a KN powerlid. I was just curious if its worth the extra money to step up to the clamp on style filter or if it even is that big of a step up. just trying to justify spend the extra money and not trying to waste money if it inst that much better.
thanks ahead of time for replys.

The Pro Flow is great, for a clamp on with adapter(http://www.prodesignracing.com/main.htm). Personally, I prefer the extra security of foam vs K&N. The Pro Flow foam filter is excellent! Alba also has a nice adapter if you insist on K&N.
I also prefer the EHS lid to the K&N (http://www.ehsracing.com/).

OK, I ran K&N's for years, with no problems. But, when you look at it objectively (not just from a performance standpoint), with the K&N, what do you have between all that dirt and your expensive engine...........a little wimpy piece of cotton gause not even 1mm thick, with a little oil on it! If that gause misses anything, there is NOTHING to back it up!
Foam on the other hand is thick enough, that if something gets past the outer layer, it is going to get caught somewhere else, before it has a chance to get to the engine. It's just some extra security!
Good foam filters (like UNI) don't flow all that bad anyway! On your Z, pulling off your airbox lid will make more difference than the air filter will.

Def get a pro-design pod filter K&N or UNI they all are better than stock

From what I have read the foam filter is a lot better for dusty conditions, K&N for everything else. Check into a nossmachine filter setup its the same as a pro design, but cheaper.
Also with only a pipe you wont notice a power difference between the K&N and foam filter.

does any one know if the prodesign clamp on set up for the Z-400 will work on an Eiger...i like my filters dirt proof...i am assuming that the prodesign part will interchange as the Z and Eiger have the same filter...Thanks
