Forget the whole Z400 swap thing... just go with a DT 200 engine... and if you really wanna do some work... try a YZ 250 swap... its been done... and is fast as hell...
Blaster engine: 18 bhp
DT200 Swap: 35 bhp

I had a blaster with a YZ250 motor in it and it ws a rocket. +4 swing arm and +2 axel. The frame held up fine racing and jumping. Had to cut and weld in a few places to get it in but well worth it if you can find a cheap motor. Plus you will have no problems beating the 400's. Good luck to you...

I guess it depends on what kind of racing you want to do. if you want to do mx, do you want to stay in the 200cc class? or do you want to compete in the 250cc class? Personaly, I wouldn't do much to that blaster engine. I got into the 240 kits with mine, before i bought my 250r, and had nothing but problems. you can get the blaster cylinder ported, new piston, and a new carb for a reasonable price. then work on your chassis. a-arms, swingarm, axle, and shocks. that is... if you want to stay in the 200cc class. otherwise i would look into buying another bike! you could do that YZ250 swap, but be ready, it will take a chunk out of your wallet. (may be cheaper to buy a 250r or somthing) call up Trenga Racing They are the Blaster Specialists!!! They have a special package to get the most avaliable power out of the blaster motor and still make it legal to compete in the 200cc class. that kit would be your best bet for a racer on a budget and will still be very reliable. the only thing i can say is get a book on jetting. you will need it.

good luck and keep us updated
