Default hey guys, newbie here needing help

after searching the internet for ages looking for an atv/buggy forum i found this place and was wondering if any of you guys could give me some advice?

my aim is to build a small single seater buggy which i can drive on the road. obviously it wont be a daily driver, just for a bit of fun!
im just after something simple, and bike engined, preferably 1000cc. Ive never tried anything like this before so it will be a new experience for me, but i do have tools, welder etc... and pretty technically minded having worked on cars, rebuilt engines and the like.

ive been searching the internet for a while looking for ideas and guidelines but im not having much luck! the only things ive come across is plans which arent that cheap. i also know that fitting a large bike engine will be a lot more difficult than fitting a smaller briggs and stratton 11hp engine, but if im gonna put a lot of work into a project like this, i want the biggest smile possible when i drive it!

i found a picture of how id like it to look when done. (well similar)

as i live in the uk, money is a factor due to our stupid government so thats why im choosing to build myself and not go out and just buy one!

any help you guys could give me like how i should start, what materials and any other information would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

chris
