The 02 sensor is handy for keeping track of the lean/rich conditions but since there is software out now to edit our own maps it would add even more parameters to mess with for the do it yourself map builder. The fuel and timing tables are enough to deal with already. There are several maps out there that can make a stock engine put out incredable power but I know they will shorten engine life big time. Which is why I recomend sticking with factory maps or custom ones using blends of one or more stock maps.
How would it put out more power and how would it shorten engine life???
We get more power by blending maps. Cannondale made an EFI map for each bike and quad. We can blend these maps in countless configurations for any type of riding. Sand needs a hard hit and woods needs a mellow hit. We can run woods map which is a slow steady traction map and even alter it to have a jerky feeling by changeing the throttle sensitivty. We can add some top end hit for the long fireroad sections..We can make a hard hitting sand map hit harder w/ the same adjustment. Unless you know timing, fuel, and compression it's best to leave the Cannondale maps alone. Blending them is okay.. Advance the timing and it can leave you to detonating your motor. We can adjust the flowrate. That is like the main jet. EFI will compenstae somewhat, but if we get it close only better things can happen.. If I go to a track and my wheels are grabbing to much or spinning to much we can adjust one or all of these things to get the traction we want/need.. No carb can do that.. My bro has a Dynateck 3 stage ignition on his Yoshi 450z. He can adjust it to one of three levels. We can adjust EFI to any level of many combonations to make it exactly how you want it, not how Dynatech tells you, you want it..

I can relate to dialing in better traction, I used to race offroad RC cars back when the electronics were just getting to the point where you could tune in for traction and variable acceleration. I didn't realize that the ignition curve was tied into the mapping but I should have.
