What happens when a plug fouls exactly? Can it be used reliably after it fouls?

Thanks,

Jason

When a plug fouls, (mostly a 2 stroke problem)the result is that the center conductor and or the ground conductor becomes caked with a hard fuel/oil coating effectively blocking the spark. I have resurrected a few by spraying repeatedly with carb cleaner & brushing with a stiff brush, a somewhat labor intensive chore unsuited to the field, where plugs normally foul.
Altho I have never tried it but another trick that sometimes works with later model bikes with CD ignition is to ground the plug against the engine & turn the engine over several times. Sometimes the spark will burn off the fuel/oil crust from the insulator, allowing it to fire

Check out my site, then go to NGK plugs. Most spark plug questions can be answered there.
