snowmobile motor in atv?

i think the hardest part would be the trany. either you run what it has on it or use i a gear box. if it was me i would keep it and auto but then you have to figure out how you want the sproket to come off the secondary clutch.

ahh 2 much work...im droppin bout 600 into my beartracker...should be a quick lil 250...bore 50over - cam - exhaust - intake....many other things. say do yall no what a snowmobile sounds like? is it like a 2stroke atv or what? thansk - later fanninator

do get to exctited about the beartracker being fast. not saying it wont be faster than it was but a stock lt 230 can still waste it to give you an example. A sled sounds nothing like a quad for the fact that sleds dont have to run spark arrestors and they have the bigger bores and another piston. just like 4 bangers, v6s and v8s sound all diffrent.

Well you might say its different but same basis. My 500 zr golf cart blew up this weekend took it to the dealer said that sand destoyed the motor. I had on uni filters with foam pre filters I dont know what to say maybe the motors are just made for snow! I have had nothing but bad luck with this project. Not to say that its not funny to go flying past quads on a golf cart. I would stick to the natural motors every thing is built to fit them you dont have to fab a ton of stuff. Now I have to fab up an air box. and dump 500 for a motor.

sure sounds like you would be breakin things tryin to put 130 HP into somthing that would hook up like a quad...guess it you beefed things up you would be good to go...Sounds like the sand dunes would be the perfect place for a rig like that...

The older golf carts have really strong rear ends looks like a tiny 10 bolt. I just welded the spider gears and havent really broke much of the original parts. Its just constant fab work hopefuly it will all be worth it when its done. Sad part is I noticed that I am playing around on it more than my yfz. Dunes are next once its perfected.

these engines will run in any tempand alititute with the right jetting and clutching. the first bike i built was back in 99 and it is still running strong and the owner is a real dummy. once a year i have to readjust the chain and clutchs . the others ive done the only time i see them is at the dunes. the biggest problem ive came across is chain failureand that is caused by needing to come up with a tensioner set up.

I got a 1994 ez go that hade a 4 stroke in it. removed that and installed my 617 rotax in that. I have forward and reverse that's what nice about getting a 4 stroke golf cart. has a 4 inch lift built myself. 22X12X8 gators all around. I have pics tried to put on here but never figured out how to put on profile

sounds like a good thread to ask this on...
does anyone know of snowmobile forums that are of similar quality to these here at ATVconnection?
i'm starting to do research on a project that would use a snowmobile engine.
it would need the following(hopefully):
- 2-stroke, twin or triple, 800cc+ hopefully close to 1000cc
- electric start
- electronic reverse
- motor mods and such readily available, great aftermarket support (gotta make it go faster!)
- possibly injected???
