brand new 05 LTZ400, need a suggestion
#1
a few weeks ago i bought a brand new 2005 LTZ 400, white with the blue frame and decals. I love it, the thing is pretty quick, a lot faster than my friends raptor 350's. it is my first quad. The day i brought it home i immediately installed a yoshi pipe(slip on muffler) and went for a ride. I also have a k&n filter lid and it came with 2 jets. I want to install the the filter lid but it runs to lean without the jets installed. Should i use the smaller jet or larger jet the filter came with? also how do i install the jet? i am very mechanically inclined and should have all the tools i need. im just new to working on quads. thanks a lot guys!

im almost at sea level, no elevation at all really. i know a jet is needed because i tried it without, doesnt run right, with the exhaust it feels ok but might still need a little more. not sure though.
once the car is removed where are the jets located on these things?

should be 4 screws on bottom of carb.remove them, then just look for the jet that looks like the one you got from k&n.change it to the bigger one if you are at sea level.then see how it runs.you may want to move the clip on needle next.just do the main for now.

ok, i tried to do that but those 4 screws wouldnt wanna come out. they shoulda used bolts as i stripped 2 of the bolt heads with the screwdriver now i have no idea what to do or how to get them out. im definately going to replace those with bolts

Then head down to the bike shop and get yourself some extra screws, cause thats not the last time you are going to strip out one of those screws.

once you get them out get screws from the hardwear store with an allen head.just make sure you get metric.
