Nice job, man. Glad to see another speed extremist on the forum. Good luck with the project.

BTW what are the requirements for that record, no offense at all here but it seems to be an easily breakable record, I think I do close to that fast at least once a week on my quad, and its only a 600, I would have to do some gear change to actually beat 150 but for someone with a 1000cc or larger in their quad it would be no sweat to break 160-170, just a matter of whether or not you have the ***** to do it on tires that cant possibly be rated for that speed.

No problem, records are meant to be broken and I support the efforts. But, it's harder than you may think. You have to be timed over an average of 1/2 mile at full speed in two directions by a timing authority. Guinness also makes sure an ATV is still basically an ATV. That's why they wont let folks run a tire over 20 inches diameter or install aerodynamic bodywork to cover the rider or wheels. The guy I took it from ran 134mph averages on a CBR1000 Super Black hawk with Nitrous. There are a lot of folks that think sustaining 150 is no big deal, but ATV's don't like it and they tend to get very twitchy. Drag racers can hit these kinds of speeds for a moment, but it can be pretty a$$ tightening to hold max speed through the traps for a half mile. We once lost the entire front fender piece at 135mph. We slowed our steering geometry down by 75% and dialed in nearly 30 degrees of aft castor. We also ran three steering dampers. The tires were a special order made by a European division of Pirrelli, but we have run 8 ply Carlisles before at over 120, but they were twitchy too. Hope this helps.

Wow, 30* pos. caster, bet that things fun to steer haha! Its weird, mine handles worse on pavement at about 70mph than at like 120-130, its smooth as can be at those speeds...and I think its because the tires are no longer attached to the wheels at that speed (razrs), I know...Im an idiot. I want to try to street legalize mine thats why Im trying to find a set of good DOT rated tires that will fit a quad. Are they really strict on the 20" (like would 20.5 not cut it?) Do you pay to attempt breaking the record?

20 inches is the max. The bike is strictly inspected and measured. It costs to pay for a measuring authority and time on the runway. Have you radared your bike? How are you measuring the 120 speed you are hitting. just curious.
