Big Bore EX Options

What are the differences, besides cc's and the fact that a 460 is a stroker, between 416,426,440,460?(if I missed others please add)Like I heard you have to run race gas with a 440.Is that true? What is best set up for fast recreational riding? How about MX style races?
Thanks,

Race gas has nothing to do with bore size, it has to do with compression. You can run an 11:1 440 kit on pump gas all day and shouldn't have any problems. Race gas starts to come into play after about 12:1-13:1 compression ratio. The only difference between those 4 is anything larger than the 426 you have to re-sleeve the cylinder, and of course the 460 being a stroker. Personally I would go with either the 426 kit or the 440. You can find them fairly cheap these days. Check out the links below. None of these kits will require running race gas. Good Luck.

I think I would probally go to a 426.But how much of a dirrerence is the cam going to make?Could I put in the 426 kit then get a cam later for it?Would there be a noticable difference with just the bore?
Thanks

Just build you a full blown 505 EX and you will not be dissappointed at the difference over stock for sure. They are pretty potent for what they are.

problem is the motor cant handle the hp. Anything over a 465 i would recommend methanol because of heat problems. A 440 only makes 2-3hp more then a 416. Personally i like the 416. I just built one for my little brother and its a runner

not sure what i have into the 370. Just a cylinder, piston, crank, hinson basket, ignition, pipe and carb. maybe 3k complete.
Never ran the alk 370 on the track, but the gas 370 did a 4.57 in a stock length chassis.
thanks for the compliment

I have a 416 with web track cam,FTZ port and polish,12.5:1 JE piston,1 MM bigger intake valves,Curtis Sparks full race exhaust, 1200 over rev box with heavy duty valve springs,i am very well pleased with the way it runs.I have beat piped, jetted Preds,2005 450R with HRC kit,Raptors,DS650s piped jetted with air mods.Very reliable with no problems in over a year. The only thing more I can do this coming up year is go to the 39FCR carb with alcohol!!
