Default UNI or K&N Filter?

Air box open or closed?? Closed K&N is fine and will be a great filter. I have a DS and LT500 that I ride Open AIr box I was a K&N man, but after the 5th re ring on my LT I kept seeing this VERY fine dust and oil through the intake tube, if thats sand, thats like emery paper going through your motor, I went to a no toil, with a wrap, and havent seen teh dust layer, but you do loose a few ponies, did the same on the DS because its a nikasiled cylinder, the way I look at it if you race and dont mind the teardowns and rebuilds K&N is fine, but with 2 strokes I rather lose a few HP and have the motor compression last a few more trips.
