How is it that RockyMountain ATV can sell the same Maier piece for $89.99 that Maier Mfg sells on their site for $158.50?(racing front fender for 300ex)

RockyMountain even uses Maier's original part number, so I'm confident that it is the same particular part, though RockyMountain is limited to their color selection compared to Maier.

Is this just Maier taking advantage of folks who don't shop around or is there a difference in what you get from Maier versus one of their retailers?

 

i saw that too...i was looking up hoods for my blaster and rocky mountain was like 10 or 15 bucks cheaper than maier but rocky mountain didnt have the color i wanted so i have to play the 10 or 15 bucks more. kind of weird how that works

 

It is just like anything else in the world. You are a manufacturer. You sell to dealers for a cheaper price and give them a suggested retail price to be able to make a profit on tehrefore they want to carry your product. You now have a few dealers who buy hundreds of your product. You have now a few places to ship and a lot less complication, etc... However, you have a retail portion also where you sell at suggested retail to not undercut your primary income. This makes it more complicated, but you do it in the name of customer service. Your dealers sell at a cheaper price to still make some money and do alot of volume to make money instead of the next dealer. You price matching your main customers is suicide because you will need to hire alot of people to take orders, ship, etc individual orders instead of "I'll take 100 in blue, 80 in white, etc..."
