Air box holes?
#1
What is this "holes in the airbox" all about?
I know on my truck, I drilled holes in the box to allow more airflow, I'd assume this is the same train of thought. Does the carb have to be adjusted to compensate?
I have a TRX200, and the airbox is under the seat, it kinda looks like an oil filter. Do I just drill holes in the lid of the box?
Any help is appreciated.

your right POC. it is done to get more airflow. more air flow = more power. of course, to compensate for the increased flow, you may have to rejet your carb. some people drill many holes to achieve more air flow, and some, mainly us racers, simply remove the air box lid.
good luck

POC, Not knowing what you ride or whether you ride in water, I'd hesitate to advise you to remove the air box cover. If you are going to simply drill holes, some recommend doing so along the side of the cover, the theory being it allows air to flow more directly into the filter and also diverts any water away from the filter to the drain in the box. In my case, I run a Moto force cover which is vented & also clear plastic, giving me the benefit of of a cover and also 90% of the air flow of an open airbox, according to the tech's dyno test of the cover.
As for jetting, you'll need to go one size fatter on your main to prevent a lean condition.
