I know a guy that put a 300ex in a buggy. With a manual clutch. It is super fast, I will see if I can get some pics of it.

 

My buddy and I put a 2 stroke 125 dirt bike motor in a side by side go kart in high school shop class. gas and brake pedal were mounted side by side on right with left foot shift lever running under the frame to connect with shift lever in the rear. hand clutch was mounted on the side rail I believe. It worked out ok until we blew a hole the size of a dime in the piston. I think the weight load was obviously too much for the high revving motor. He was a larger fellow.
