Putting my Warrior on a diet.
#2
I had a 99 warrior and tried the same thing. The most expensive thing would be to have a new frame made of chrome-moly or another exotic material other than steel. I did a bunch of things that were free or cheap, but somewhat time consuming. You could take off the parking brake setup and buy a block off plate. I work as a car stereo installer and I can fabricate just about anything, so I took off steel parts (in example the sprocket guard) and copied it out of aluminum. I took off the rear chain guard because I don't ride over branches or rocks. Bought a different pipe. Drilled holes in footpegs and shifter handle and brake pedal. The footpegs have 2 holes on each side I made 5 equal spaced ones instead of 2. There are little aluminun shields by the front brakes, I took them off. Just look and see what you can modify, replace with aluminum, etc... and be safe doing it. Don't cut up the frame, etc...I also took a 2" holesaw and cut a few holes in the plastic bottom of the seat and the sides of the battery box. I moved the shock reservoir over to the bottom of the battery box and shaved its mounts off the frame. ETC..... In case you were wondering, I shaved 15 lbs off of my quad and it was still safe and it cost me nothing except the White Bros E series pipe.
